The Chemistry Behind the Clean
Carpet soil often contains oily films that hold dry particles to the fiber. A controlled alkaline prespray helps release that bond; wet extraction then flushes away the suspended soil and cleaning chemistry.

Loosen oily, acidic soil
Higher-pH cleaning agents are alkaline. Used at the correct dilution and allowed proper dwell time, alkaline builders help neutralize acidic soils and improve the action of surfactants. Those surfactants reduce surface tension and surround oily soil, helping lift it from the carpet fiber so it can be carried away in water.
2 / Low-pH Extraction Rinse
Flush, recover, rebalance
The extraction wand applies a mildly acidic rinse and immediately recovers it. The water flow removes suspended soil and prespray residue, while the lower-pH rinse reacts with remaining alkalinity and brings the carpet back toward a neutral range. That leaves less sticky detergent residue behind to attract new soil.

Why “toward neutral” matters: final pH depends on the carpet fiber, soil load, water, product dilution, and recovery.
